Whether you’re applying for a fresh passport or renewing an existing one, ensuring your passport is up-to-date is crucial. Sometimes, unforeseen circumstances may arise, requiring you to reschedule your passport appointment. Here’s how you can do it:
How to Reschedule Your Passport Appointment?
Your passport is your gateway to international travel, serving as a vital proof of identity and nationality. The passport appointment interview, conducted at Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or the regional passport office, is the final step in your passport application or renewal process.
To reschedule your appointment, follow these steps:
Online Rescheduling:
-
- Visit the official ‘Passport Seva’ website and log in using your credentials as an existing user.
- Navigate to the ‘Applicant Home’ section and access the ‘View Saved/Submitted Application’ under the ‘Services’ column.
- Locate your active application in the table and find the option to reschedule the passport appointment.
- Choose a new appointment slot that fits your schedule.
- Complete any required payment and save the acknowledgment receipt.
Please note that you can also cancel your appointment without necessarily rescheduling it.
Offline Rescheduling:
-
- Visit the nearest passport office in person to request a rescheduling.
- Inform the passport officer about your need to reschedule and provide the necessary details for securing a new slot.
- Pay any applicable rescheduling charges.
Documents Required for Passport Appointment Rescheduling:
Before initiating the rescheduling process, ensure you have the following documents:
- Original receipt of your passport application
- Proof of the existing appointment (appointment slip)
- ID proof
- Proof of passport fee payment
How Many Times Can You Reschedule Passport Appointment?
In a calendar year, you are permitted to cancel and reschedule your passport appointment up to two times. Be cautious not to exceed this limit, as doing so will result in automatic cancellation of your passport application. Upon successful rescheduling, a pop-up notification will indicate the remaining number of cancellation/rescheduling attempts.
Once you’ve completed all document submissions and attended your passport appointment, the processing begins, followed by police verification, and eventually, dispatch of your passport. Remember to keep your passport safe, especially when traveling abroad, and consider purchasing a travel insurance policy to safeguard against unforeseen expenses like medical emergencies or passport replacement costs.
